Nine years, three times a gazelle

Nangi has been named a DN Gaselle for the third time by Dagens Næringsliv, an award given to a small group of Norwegian companies that have delivered documented, profitable growth over several years. The criteria are strict: revenue must have at least doubled over the past three years, accounts must be approved, operating results positive, and the growth consistent rather than coincidental.

Standing here for a third time means something different than the first. It is no longer one good year standing out, it is a pattern. Nine years of decisions made slowly, and properly, rather than quickly and easily.

Nangi was founded in Oslo in 2017 by Jenny Gørvell-Dahll and Danuka Hewage, on the idea that fine jewelry design could bring together Nordic form with Sri Lankan craft traditions. The name, which means “little sister” in Sinhalese, reflects our connection to Sri Lanka, where much of our gemstone work has its roots. In 2019, we were among the first jewelry brands in Norway to commit fully to lab grown diamonds, a choice we had to defend at the time, and one that is simply part of who we are today.

Growth has never been the goal in itself. It has been the result of building something that lasts: craftsmanship over speed, personal guidance over pure online transactions, and a brand that stands behind responsible sourcing and the education of girls in Sri Lanka through our long-term partnership there.
