Our jewelry is made to last, to be worn every day and, one day, passed down. Still, daily wear naturally leaves small scratches, and over time your jewelry can lose some of its shine. The prongs and setting that hold your stones in place also wear over time. To make sure your jewelry lasts a lifetime, every piece of Nangi jewelry comes with a free annual service, Nangi Care.

For your annual service, we take your jewelry to our goldsmith in Oslo, where it gets a thorough, professional clean, polish and check-up. Nangi Care is free for all Nangi jewelry, and it's available once a year.
Soap, hand cream and oils easily build up under the stone and around the prongs. This buildup dulls the stone, and over time it can start to look cloudy. The good news is that you can do a lot yourself. With lukewarm water, a little mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, you can quickly bring back the sparkle.
Most gemstones can handle this kind of cleaning, but some need gentler care than others. If you're not sure which gemstone you have, feel free to ask us first.
Cleaning is part of Nangi Care, and our goldsmith gives your jewelry both a deep clean and a polish, even in the places you can't reach yourself. If your piece has gemstones, you'll see a big difference. When your jewelry is clean, light can pass freely through the stone, and that's what makes it sparkle.

Gold is a precious and relatively soft metal, and small scratches are a natural part of wearing your jewelry every day. During Nangi Care, our goldsmith polishes your jewelry, leaving the surface smoother and shinier with a fresh glow.

Prongs are the small metal claws around the stone, designed to hold it in place. Over time, prongs can wear down, bend or come loose, sometimes without you noticing. Our goldsmith always checks every prong during Nangi Care and lets you know if anything needs fixing.
A quick tip: Hold your jewelry up to your ear and give it a gentle shake. If you hear a faint clicking sound, the stone may be loose in its setting. If so, please get in touch with us so our goldsmith can take a look.

White gold gets its bright white color from a thin layer of rhodium, a precious metal in the platinum family. Underneath the rhodium, white gold has a pale, slightly golden tone. Applying this layer is called rhodium plating.
Over time, the rhodium gradually wears off, and your piece may take on a warmer, slightly golden hue as the natural tone of the gold starts to show. To keep its bright white color, white gold should be rhodium-plated about every other year, or as needed. When your jewelry is polished during Nangi Care, a little of the rhodium is removed as well. That's why we recommend having it rhodium-plated after polishing.

Platinum is a dense and durable metal. Over time, it develops a soft, satin-like patina, and many people love this look. Rather than wearing away, the metal simply shifts slightly on the surface. That's why platinum generally needs less maintenance than gold.
We still recommend an annual check for jewelry with gemstones. For platinum, Nangi Care includes a thorough clean, a prong check and an assessment of its overall condition.
If you'd like a high-polish finish, our goldsmith can polish your jewelry for an additional fee.
